Our Mission

To provide a safe & welcoming space for marginalized people & their allies participating in geek culture & activities in Southeastern King County.

Friendly Tahoma Geeks supports #BlackLivesMatter.

No bullies allowed!

This means:

  • No gate-keeping.
  • There's no such thing as a "fake geek," or "correct" way to be a geek.
  • Everyone should feel safe participating in and organizing activities.
  • A variety of backgrounds, cultures, experiences and ideas make the community stronger.

It's an unfortunate reality that the geek community has historically not been very welcoming to some. Women, people of color, and LGBTQ+ geeks in particular have struggled to be accepted. The landscape is changing – slowly – and it is our goal to be an agent of that change. To that end, Friendly Tahoma Geeks strives to be a safe space for supportive people to meet, learn, grow and have fun.

Please see our Code of Conduct for more specifics.

On a lighter note, our other goal is to meet like-minded local geeks and nerds. We generally meet at The Game Shelf in Kent, WA, but with COVID-19 we've been playing games online. We're primarily focused on meeting other like-minded adults, but any and all ages are welcome.
